OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY OF MANAOAG

Every time we have a provincial trip to the northern part of Luzon (Philppines largest Island), either business or vacation, we make sure we pass by the town of Manaoag, Pangasinan, and visit and attend mass at the  Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag.

Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag.

The Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary, located on a hill in Manaoag, has been canonically affiliated with the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major in the Vatican since June, 2011. The parish serving Manaoag and the surrounding towns is administered by the Dominican Order under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan.

Some of the miracles attributed to Our Lady of Manaoag are in the murals inside the church. The Paschal Chapel beside the south side of the church has the icons of the Nazarene, the Santo Entierro, and the Blessed Virgin. The sanctuary at the left side of the main entrance has a large crucified Christ image. (Wikipedia)

I attended the Sunday Mass on the Feast of the Epiphany in the Yolanda-typhoon-destroyed Chapel of Brgy. Catmon, the farthest rural Barangay of the Municipality of Tanauan, in the Province of Leyte, Philippines. January 5, 2014.

The entrance door structure with the cross on top of it
was the only left standing after the typhoon.
Temporary roofing made of tarpaulin.
Pathway leading to the Barangay main road.
The Altar table and the temporary retablo.

SOLEMNITY OF MARY, MOTHER OF GOD

Today is the liturgical feast of the our mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary honoring her divine motherhood to Jesus Christ.

"Mary, the all-holy ever-virgin Mother of God, is the masterwork of the mission of the Son and the Spirit in the fullness of time. For the first time in the plan of salvation and because his Spirit had prepared her, the Father found the dwelling place where his Son and his Spirit could dwell among men. In this sense the Church's Tradition has often read the most beautiful texts on wisdom in relation to Mary. Mary is acclaimed and represented in the liturgy as the "Seat of Wisdom." — Catechism of the Catholic Church 721
